Fairytale

'Fairytale' was my first submission after joining Depthcore. Once I found out the theme was 'Time' I immediately started thinking of ways to imply the passing of ages and make a scene feel ancient. I always enjoy giving a twist to a traditional theme so i took the idea of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, and imagined that over the years the castle had become so impenetrable that no hero had ever managed to defeat it.

Having just spent a year studying and focusing mainly on combining watercolours, pencils and digital techniques, this was a great chance for me to take this approach and run with it, seeing how it could be developed and applied to a new subject matter.
