What's your back-story?
Alex Mapar, Australian director/Illustrator/animator living in Brooklyn.

What are you planning to do within the next fews years of your career?
I love it all but over the next year or so I'd like to be directing more than illustrating and illustrating more than animating. I have a few short films I'd like done and toured on the festival circuit and a few side adventures planned in comic books and art shows too. Main goal is to have found a great producer though!

What's your favorite food and why do you find it so delicious?
Uni and roe bowl. It looks pretty, tastes like a savoury desert, and it reminds me of how much I love Japan.

What's your backstory?
I'm a relatively young Australian, born and raised in a surf town. As a young one I always drew constantly with my little bro and in my teens I worked with my dad a sign writer, so I guess it's in the blood - fast forward a few years and I am now newly graduated and working in Montreal as a designer and illustrator. Life is good.

What are you planning to do within the next fews years of your career?
Travel the world, Make the leap to full-time freelance, Get married to my lovely fiance, create art and make lots of new friends.

What's your favorite food and why do you find it so delicious?
Right now I would say Hawaiian pizza (ham & pineapple), mainly because last week I came home and it was all rainy and I sat by the window, looking out while jamming pizza in my face and it was beautiful. Hawaiian pizza made my day so I owe it a shout out.

DEAN FALSIFY COOK

What's your backstory?
I am Dean Falsify Cook and I am based in the once culturally derelict Birmingham, UK.
After leaving high school I entered my 'wilderness' years and went from factory job to deputy manager of a pub. I had always been creative but at that young age I just switched off and drifted straight into a minor breakdown. I was on a beach in Majorca, reflecting on the mess I had made of my early life when it hit me like a thunderbolt. I had to get my act together and start doing the things I knew I was capable of. The life lessons I learned during this period gave me the focus and drive to strive for my dreams and to never give up.

I began my experiments in digital art back in 2006 as a way for me to visualize the music I was in to. For a long time this was the primary reason for me to create pieces, and to a large extent it still is, however in recent years I have tried to input other influences such as my love for stories, counter culture, science and alternative histories to name a few. With these influences my style has been slowly developing, combining different techniques and disciplines with the aim of creating a solid, unique visual aesthetic.

I am pleased to say I have now been freelancing full time for the last 8months and have been experiencing the ups and downs of working for myself. The highlights so far have been gaining regular commissions from my favourite record label, Renegade Hardware and of course being accepted into dC. Depthcore has been a source of inspiration and a yard stick since the very beginning of my career and it is a great honour to have the opportunity to contribute to its future growth. I hope to one day inspire others the same way as I have been inspired, make good friends and help push the digital art frontier into new territories.

What are you planning to do within the next fews years of your career?
As for the future, my aim is to create an in-demand illustrative style encompassing crazy worlds and characters based around clients products. I am also in the process of writing and illustrating a book with a strong emphasis on quirky youth culture. I would like to see this project grow and hopefully be in a position to develop it as a brand including a range of toys and cool merchandise. Non work related goals are to move in with my long term rock n roll girlfriend Klee, and travel the world together seeking out fresh inspirations.

What's your favorite food and why do you find it so delicious? My favourite food is without a doubt Chicken Madras, I have a thing for spices and Madras hits the spot. It is not the spiciest curry by any means but it is the perfect balance. My least favourite is garden peas! I have a hatred for them that runs deep. Anything that green can't be natural, I refuse to believe it!
