Chapter XVI: Element
Interviewer (x)
Hi caustic.
Interviewer (x)
Although your presence so far in the art community has been relatively short, you have made a huge impact among many designers with your fresh and original pieces. Caust1c is how we all know you... but tell us about your true identity.
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
Well my name is Justin Bacon, and I reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Just your average punk kid turned computer nerd, heh. I am 18 years old and attending school for graphic design.
Interviewer (x)
Interesting.Where did the alias Caust1c come from? Just something random, or....?
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
i thought it was quite fitting for the art i produce. I love lighting. Value is what makes 3d abstract so different. Theres so much you can do with it.
Interviewer (x)
I see.
Interviewer (x)
You seem to enjoy all forms of digital media, from audio to static to motion. which medium would you consider your favorite and why?
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
My favorite medium would be my guitar. The interaction is so dynamic. I make love to my guitar when I play it. As for visual art, photoshop is where I feel most comfortable. Its like a playground to explore all of my visions and thoughts.
Interviewer (x)
And how did first discover the digital abstract art genre?
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
I was browsing an art forum and came acrossed a link to deviantart for some brushes. In the guys favorites was a monstorous abstract. I was completely overwhelmed with the visual power of the art. I\'m sad I cannot remember any names, but he was a pretty well known artist i believe.
Interviewer (x)
That brings me to ask you this: is there any abstract designer that you favor over the others
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
my friend Pete aka Shockreflex. He supported me throughout my early stages, and was the only one actually giving me useful information. I owe alot to him. Not to mention he is one of the best abstract artist I know.
Interviewer (x)
Yeah, I have to agree he is a pretty cool guy.
Interviewer (x)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? jstn : In a dark room with a monitor glued to my forehead.
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
heh, just kidding, well maybe not... the future is quite blurry at the moment. The only thing I know is that I want to do something with digital multimedia.
Interviewer (x)
thats cool
Interviewer (x)
How has your experience at depthcore been so far?
Justin Bacon (caust1c)
Its been awesome, and I feel I have grown so much artisticly in such a short time. Lots of great artists and great people. Being in this artgroup has literally changed the way I look at my life. Each month or so we are given a theme. That entire month I view the world under a sort of filter, everything i see, hear, touch, smell, taste. I find ways to put it into my work. Being in this artgroup has helped me realize artistic freedom, and I cannot thank the administration enough for letting me participate.
