Brian Smith (alphakx)

I am talking to Antti Sinisalo, Freestyle's featured artist and our first feature for v5. How do you feel about that right now?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Im feeling kinda groovy and excited as i've heard a lot of good things about our new website, and the current pack is really kicking ass big time. But ye mainly im really looking forward to all of the new cool features of the website. And ofcourse feels good to be a featured artist, from all the great ones of dC.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Tell us a little bit about yourself, like age, sex, location-the whole nine yards.

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Well as it was stated above, my name is Antti Sinisalo, 20years, atleast almost ordinary student, currently living and studying in Finland, city called Espoo. As most of you might have guessed, yes i am a male. :) What comes to my studies, i am currently studying System information management in Polytechnics of Laurea or smth, and im overall doing just fine at the moment.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What's the weather like year-round in Finland? I bet it's mad chilly.

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Cold as hell shall i say. Which im not happy with at all :) But lotsa going on all the time so not too much time to pay attention to the coldness and the weather as a whole.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Are you currently working at a job? If so, what do you do?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

No i am not working in a fulltime job, tho i am doing some freelance jobs currently with my studies. Mainly these projects are website designing and some database stuff, things which im also studying... I would love to work on a design firm tho. :)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Describe the kind of room or environment you usually work best in.

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Dark and silent room is the best (besides music MUST be on). I don't want to have anyone distracting my work or coming in to middle of something. This might be reason why i usually work on middle of the night, or the late eve... (GAH those girlfriends..!). And it must be dark so i won't be affected to much from the environment, so the most things i create are constructed from my mind and imagination. Like i don't want to do an abstract image of Cola-bottle?...

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Do you have an artistic background? Or is this something you'verecently began to work with?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Well i started the all gfx stuff back at the late 90's... i think it was 1999. That was mainly website stuff with freeware gfx for my quake clans etc :)..(btw. i have always been addicted to online gaming, but not that counter-strike shit.). I think first stuff i made was made with PaintShopPro, dont remember the version, and those pics was submitted to DeskMod (oh i miss that shit :)). But i REALLY got involved with abstract stuff and the abstract artists at the time between 2002-2004, when i got first copy of 3d Studio Max to my hands. The fact is that i hardly remember anything from the time i've been here in the GFX community, as i see it as a whole thing, and i haven't really acquired any "goals" during my journey. But it has been fun and i hope i'll keep my motivation long..

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Do you have any education in any kind of art?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

No i don't have, but im gonna have few courses of Media Design and Dynamic website programming at my school in few following years.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Are there any particular musical influences that inspire your creativity?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Well, stuff like Chimaira, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage and Static-X keeps me going. Those are agressive enough. I don't like anything which is soulcreepy as Britney Spears or other artists that ekud listens....(:D).

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Do you usually create to music?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Well i dont particulary create to music but i create _WITH_ music. And usually music does not inspire me in any particular way (tho it might happen.). Still i find hard to work without music in my ears...Don't know why. Maybe it is just that i like music.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Do you think your art resembles your personality?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Yes they do, atleast in some level. Mainly the colors. I usually work with dark and grayish colors, with low saturation. It somehow pretends my mind and world-image. I see almost all in gray, dont ask me why... There is so small amount of highlights in the world thesedays, but thank god i have my girlfriend as one. :)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What are your tools of choice when it comes to developing a fresh new piece?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

If it had to be a really fresh piece, it would be 3D Studio MAX and Illustrator (which im kinda new at.). That combination would create something really new and fresh, atleast for me. Still i mainly use photoshop and 3dsmax.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What are the specs of your computer hardware?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

2600xp+, Radeon 9800xt, 768ram, hundreds of gigas hd, and my dear Wacom tablet as a main tool :)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Even though you seem like quite a master at this game, are there still any artists that you admire or are influenced by?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

As kinda have, i have few also. I especially like the recent work of Shinybinary (and so does many many other ppl aswell). There is also some techy and original 3d stuff i've enjoyed lately, dont remember the artists so, there is so many. Neorotic has produced kinda cool stuff lately aswell btw....:)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Is there a design tip or secret that you will be willing to share with us?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

Just like in real life, be yourself, don't imitate. And what comes to those always-so-popular tutorials, i suggest only use part of them, and produce something which is completely your own. This way you always find your pieces more pleasing to urself. And enjoy life! :>

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What do you foresee in the future of depthCORE?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

I see it very very bright as i've heard about those lil' projects our guys are having, which is very nice to see happening. Hope we can figure such cool things more in future aswell. And hope im still there when those happen. :)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Are there any major plans in your life at the moment?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

I just wanna pay attention to my studies, none other.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What would you like to shout out to all of the fans out there?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

I'm afraid i hardly have any fans, but if there is any....just like i already stated earlier, enjoy your life while you still live in it. :)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

And finally, to keep our consistency, we have to ask: What are you wearing right now?

Antti Sinisalo (sec)

You don't wanna hear. Im not wearing anything. And that is because im recolouring my hair, and dont wanna have my elite clothes to be coloured at the same.... Isn't this sexy.....Must be your first time to interview a naked person.. :) Too bad it is just a male like me :)
